Freemasonry under the United Grand Lodge of England is divided into 47 Provinces throughout England and Wales. The Province of Yorkshire West Riding covers an area that stretches from Ripon in the North to Sheffield in the South and Bentham in the West to Goole in the East.

Harewod Lodge 5667

Harewood Lodge 5667 meets at the Masonic Hall Westbourne House Otley.  We wear dark lounge suits and white gloves for our formal meetings.

Harewood (pronounced HARwood) Lodge No 5667 was consecrated in September 1937 and took its name from the then Provincial Grand Master, M W Bro The Earl of Harewood, who later became Grand Master in 1942. From 1937 the Lodge met at the Masonic Hall in Boroughgate, Otley; in 1968 that property was sold, and Harewood Lodge moved to its present home at Westbourne House, which it shares with five other Lodges and various side degrees.

The Lodge holds its Regular Meetings at 6.30pm on the fourth Tuesday in each month (lodge meeting dates are available here) except July and August (closed) and December (3rd Tuesday), and is perhaps unusual these days in meeting for a meal at 6.00pm on all other Tuesdays, after which practice etc takes place. There is an active social programme (but not too active!), some functions being held at Westbourne House and others such as the annual Ladies Festival being held at local hotels; members and friends also enjoy a weekend away in February.

The Lodge currently numbers about forty members and would be happy to consider applications from any Brother moving into the area, or from anyone who may be interested in joining Freemasonry.

The Masonic Hall at Westbourne House was created from a large private house, and has ample parking. Inside it has a main Temple and a smaller 'practice' Temple, a dining room and separate bar. The Temple can accommodate up to one hundred people, as can the dining room, which is available for private hire.

The members of Harewood Masonic Lodge No 5667 are holding an open evening on Tuesday 15th June 2010. This is open to any interested members of the community who might want to find out a little more about our Lodge and Freemasonry in general. The format of the evening will be a short talk about who we are, what we do and perhaps why we do it. This will take place in our Masonic Temple at Westbourne House followed by dinner in our dinning room after which one of our brethren will talk about what Freemasonry means for him. The evening starts at 6.30pm with dinner being served at 8pm. Anyone who is interested in joining us that evening please contact our Secretary Mr. Simon H Wetherald on 0113 258 8646 (daytime) 01423 503207 (evening) or by email secretary@harewoodlodge5667.co.uk
